• Shopping takes planning – The local IGA works for  quick basics, but most locals head to  Edmund’s Market (Phillips) Fotter’s Market (Stratton)  or larger grocery/Walmart locations in Rumford or  Farmington for bigger trips.  

• No traffic lights – And minimal traffic, except, during peak  tourist seasons, or when you get stuck behind a logging  truck.  

• Friendly faces – People wave whether they know you or  not.

• Winter Prep: Snow tires are a must, and keep a snow  broom in your car. 

• In winter, enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing.
